Stupidity and Stitches

Today has been a weird day! It all really started last night. I didn't get home until 10pm because I had the YW training sessions down at the Tabernacle. (Little side note, the benches in that place are HORRIBLE, if you go there bring a butt cushion, or your butt will go numb.) Anyway, when I got home I ate a quick dinner and then talked with Taylor for a while, so we didn't get to bad until almost midnight. With a 5:30am alarm, midnight is very late :( So I was very tired this morning but I was getting better as the morning went on. I got to work at about 6:40 and was on a roll! I was getting everything done quickly and was accomplishing a lot. Until I forgot 1 VERY important thing.... don't walk down the halls without putting your arms behind your back! You see, I have a very serious issue about hitting my arms on walls, beds, doors, etc. So I always walk down the halls with my hands behind my back, protecting my arms from injury. Well, today I forgot and my arm was the recipient of the damage. I moved over in the hallway to let someone with a bed pass and I hit my wrist on the metal plating of OR 3 door frame. Of course for me, it had to do more damage then it would to most less accident prone people. The metal sliced my wrist. I didn't look to bad but I was worried about the possibility of infection. So I showed a nurse and she said I had to go to employee health because it was a work accident. They then made me leave work, and go to intermoutain med. I work at a hospital, there are people that can give me antibiotics and Plastic surgeons to stitch it! Oh no, that is not possible you HAVE to go to the med clinic, lame. So I left work and drove to the clinic. After 2 1/2 hours I had 3 stitches and a band aid! What a waste of time. The only great thing was I got the rest of the day off :) I was pretty happy about that. So that is my stupidity of letting my very accident prone self slice my wrist and get 3 stitches from a door frame.

Day 14!

I have to brag a little! I have not had any chocolate, candy, dessert, or treats of any kind for the last 14 days!!

It has been so hard, I really didn't think it would be this hard. The reason it has been so hard, other then my pure love of chocolate and candy :), is that I am ALWAYS surrounded by treats. Work as treats on every desk every day. I'm not talking the yucky candy either, free Reese's cups, twix, snickers, cadberry eggs, and the list goes on! The parties at work are very frequent as well. Of course we had a St. Patrick's Day Party, I have never seen such delicious looking treats, the brownies, sugar cookies, etc. looked and SMELLED so enticing! But I resisted!

So I get home from work and you would think I would have a little reprieve. Well you have not met Taylor then. He does not do it on purpose to torture me but this guy can eat treats! I have never seen someone eat so much sugary food and stay as skinny as he is. He has amazing genes! Anyway, let me give an example of what this lucky man of mine can eat. Last Sunday he ate, 5 sugar cookies with frosting, 3 packages of fun dip, some thin mints, and a couple little candies that we had lying around.

Of course I am sitting next to him while he eats this, and the nice guy he is he offers me a taste. Well luckily for me my desire to finish this task has overridden my need and desire for treats. I think I am finally teaching my body that it doesn't need a treat after a hard day, a meal, or just for the heck of it. I really think when I start introducing sweets back into my diet I will be able to control the amount I eat and really eat much less then I used to :)

I do have to say, the no sugar and LOTS of water, I mean 50-64oz a day, has made me feel better. I wish it was helping me lose more weight but I need to introduce exercise into the plan for that to really take effect.

Now I only have approx. another 14 days until my first birthday celebration and the first introduction to sweets. Wish me luck on finishing the last 14 days as strong as the first 14! :)

Here is Goes...

So here it goes! I have been called as the Laurel/Miamaid Advisor and assistant camp director for the Young Women in my ward.

I am so nervous! I have never had a big calling! When I say big, I mean one with so much responsibility and guidance is required. I feel so nervous being in charge of young girls just 5 or so years younger then me. I feel such a huge responsibility to them to do a great job and be the leader they need.
I have never taught a lesson, and I will be teaching on a regular basis! I barely know the gospel myself let alone being able to teach someone else.

I am learning a great lesson here at this point in my life. I have to just trust in the Lord. I truly believe that this is something the Lord is trying to teach me. To trust in Him and trust that His plan for me is what is best for me.

Life has been so hard for me because I don't feel it is going the direction I want it too. I want to be in nursing school and I haven't been able to get in, I want to lose weight but all my efforts have not brought much of a result, and so on. I have never been someone that stays down when I don't do well in things but the last month or so has kept me wondering what my future holds and why my efforts are not being rewarded. I find myself always wondering what I have done wrong, or what should I have done differently or better!

So I am just going to learn this lesson in life and trust in the Lord. I know that He knows who I am and He loves me. He gave me this calling for a reason and I am absolutely going to do my best to fulfill this calling in the manner that He wants me to. Hopefully it will benefit those I am around more then it is going to benefit me. I am also going to trust that the Lord knows what He is doing and even though I want to be in nursing school, he has me on the best path for me and my future.

So here it goes... I'll let you know how it all turns out.

Spring Cleaning!

I feel like I have been doing this (cleaning) all weekend!

For some weird reason I have been hit by the spring cleaning bug! I don't think I have spent so many hours cleaning!

I think it all started because Taylor went out shooting with the boys yesterday. Since he was gone all day and most of the night, I had to decide what I was going to do. No one really wanted to hang out, so I decided to tackle a humongous project!
What is this humongous project? Our second bedroom, also known as the storage room! Over the last year we have collected a few things and instead of keeping this storage room clean and organized, we just threw stuff in the room and it turned into a nuclear bombsite! I wish I had a before picture to show how horrible it was.

So instead of sitting on my butt while Taylor was out having fun, I chose to be productive! I cleaned and organized the entire room. I threw a lot of crap away and put things where they should go. It took me 3 hours but afterward it felt SOO good! Taylor even came home, saw my cleaning and was like "wow, I can't believe you did that all!"

And that is how and when the bug hit! i am grateful it hit because I have the cleanest house I think I have ever had! I am pretty exhausted, who know cleaning all day could be so tiring! ha ha
Anyway, I hope the spring cleaning bug stays around for a while so I can continue to clean, organize, and set up my home! :)

No Chocolate!

Starting TODAY I am not going to have any candy, treats, sugar etc. until my birthday in April. I want to try to go without the candy and without the soda for a month!

If anyone knows me this is going to be a HUGE challenge but I am going to do my absolute best to succeed at this. It has to get easier as time goes on, right? Because today is day 1 and I am having serious cravings and I want some Cadberry Eggs SOO bad. I am proud of myself for turning the cadberry eggs, smoas girl scout cookies, and all the other free chocolate I was offered today!

But I have made it through day 1, now I just have to make it until April 13th!

Wish me luck :)
