First Trimester!

I cannot believe my first trimester is officially over! It went by so fast, it seemed to just fly by. So how was my first trimester?
I have really been trying not to be a big complainer, but sometimes it isn't easy. Sickness hit about 7 weeks and it came with a bang! I stopped being able to hold much down in the morning and at night pretty much every day. I would get up at 530am and tried every different trick of keeping sickness down but eventually I would get sick, no matter what. I tried so hard to be quiet to not wake Taylor up but it didn't always work. Good thing I have a good husband :) I have had a lot of food aversions too, which doesn't help. Just the thought of having to smell chicken still makes me a little sick. Luckily when I went to my new OB (yes new  because I found out my other OB no longer delivers in an "in network" hospital so at 8 weeks along I had to switch doctors) and she prescribed me the miracle drug of Zofran! Seriously, whoever invented that stuff is a wonderful person! It is a life saver!

I had to finally start telling people at work, because I was sick, at about 11 weeks. Some of the people I work with every single day had some previous suspicions,  apparently I acted and said I was extremely tired all the time :) I think that was the other piece of the first trimester that is so hard. I was so exhausted, working full time and having to take call doesn't help but daily naps after work were wonderful! Taylor would come home from work and his first questions were: How are you and How was your nap? People try to explain it to you, how tired you are going to be but there really is nothing that can prepare you for the real thing. Luckily that exhaustion really seems to be subsiding and I am feeling more energetic as the days go on.

We told our families about 11 weeks along. We told the Maxfield family with a Utah Utes onesie and a little note that said, "welcoming another UTE to the family, May 2013". This was fun because they are all Y fans. They were shocked and surprised but ecstatic! It was really fun to see the news sink in. When we told my family, I had my nephew open his "birthday present" of the same onesie but this note said "Cousin Maxfield May 2013" it took a little bit for the family to catch on but then everyone was super excited. My nephew thought it was a lame birthday present, what 7yr old boy wouldn't, but I made him happy by giving him a real one right after. It was so fun telling our families and then our friends. I made this pregnancy actually seem real, I am still struggling believing it is real but things like this help a lot :)

Yesterday I went for another check up (13 weeks) and got to hear baby's heartbeat, I love that sound! I have lost weight and the doctor told me to be careful but I think with the nausea starting to subside a little bit it will be okay. Unfortunately I now have a cold/cough but its all part of the experience. I am just trying to enjoy every day and remember how much of a miracle this little one is for us! Getting pregnant was not easy, so every day I thank my Heavenly Father for sending me this wonderful little miracle. Even if it is making me sick :)

What's next?
Trying to stop losing weight and maybe gain a few lbs.
Make a decision on whether to find out the gender of little Baby Maxfield! (I am leaning towards not finding out but we will see, I have 7 weeks to decide)
Start preparing for baby Maxfield. This pregnancy will go faster then I think it will and I am some that loves to have stuff done way in advance and there is a lot to do :)

  1. You are well on your way!. So excited for you and Taylor. Don't worry too much about gaining weight- I was the same way and the weight came just fine(everyone is different) but I'm just saying don't stress!!. We didn't find out the gender and it was super fun. Most everyone will try to convince you otherwise though so once you decide you gotta be super strong. But it's worth it. So excited to keep hearing the updates. I'm kinda jealous, labor and delivery is the most amazing experience.
