Today is a MOMENTOUS DAY! Today I finished my last day of work before baby boy comes! I hope this little boy comes very soon but even if he doesn't come this week I am so very grateful to be done with work.
With not being able to fit in any shoes or bend over to do my job, it made work very difficult. I know I could probably keep working up until my due date, next week, but I am not going to. It will be nice to have a few days to myself, resting, cleaning the house, and finishing up the last few things before my little man gets here. It is going to be weird not going to work everyday but I am so excited for this new adventure!
Now I just need to find a way to get this little man to come, I will be super happy :)

35 weeks!
I can't believe I am already 35 weeks. My doctor says it has gone by so fast because it's my first and I'm not trying to be pregnant and chase another child around. haha I guess something to look forward to later in life.
This last trimester has been going slow but fast at the same time. I have gotten so much done but still fill like I have so much to do! The baby's room is almost done, I'm just waiting for the dresser to be delievered :). I think once the dresser is here and full I will feel a lot more prepared! (or at least I hope so).
I have been really nervous about this baby. I have no idea how to be a mom and what I should do every day for my little one. I am just counting on the Lord to bless me and give me those promised blessings of being a mom. I know I won't be perfect but the calm of becoming a mother is definitely a needed blessing.
My favorite part of this trimester is not just feeling the baby move (because it can hurt when he kicks my ribs for the 80th time that day) but being able to watch him move. It is a little alien type weird being able to watch your belly move from side to side because your little one is out of room and still wants to stretch and move as much as he can. I love it though. It makes it seem so much more real and alive. I really think I am going to miss those moments of being able to feel and see him move inside me. Good thing I'll be able to hold him in my arms at those times!
At my 35 week appointment my little man was a champ! He has flipped and has his head down. He's been breach most of the pregnancy so I am glad he turned. I'm pretty sure he turned several weeks ago because the pressure changed. My doctor did an ultrasound to make sure his head was down and she really had to push down to find his head. She said, "wow, he is already really low! I doubt you make it to your due date" This is a really exciting statement but a crappy one too. If he doesn't come early or on time I'll be bummed but the chance that he can is really exciting! I don't want him coming to early, but my doc said he would be healthy and fine if he came from now on. Huge relief to me!
Though the exhaustion, soreness, reflux, and anxiety is going full force, I am so grateful for this pregnancy. My little man is my little miracle and I can't wait to see his face and hold him in my arms. Though I am scared I am not going to be a good mom, I know I will love my little man more then anything I have ever loved. I know this because I already love him so much.

Third Trimester!
It is official, we are on the count down. We only have 7 weeks until we meet our little guy! Part of me is super stressed about it because I am not ready in any way but on the other hand I can't wait for this pregnancy to be over and our little guy to be here :)
How has the third trimester been going? Well I did not expect it to be this hard. I don't want to complain but this blog is like my journal so I am going to use it to remember the "pregnancy experience". I knew I'd be uncomfortable and everything but it's different then I expected.
I usually only have to get up once a night to use the restroom, which is really nice because I need my sleep :). I have been super tired this trimester too, like the first but not quite as bad. Of course I feel HUMONGOUS too. It is so hard getting big when your whole life you're taught to not gain weight. I know it's important and eventually I will lose it but it's hard. haha
The hardest part of this trimester has been the swelling. I honestly can say I don't have any clue how people are pregnant in the summer... I think I would die, Literally! I took a picture of my feet the other day and put it on Facebook, needless to say many people asked if I had preeclampsia because I was swelling so bad in the middle of march. My feet and hands look like little sausages. My hands keep getting all splotchy, red and white, because my hands are so swollen! It's kind of crazy to see and sometimes I just stare at my feet and hands because they look so freakish! Sometimes I lose the creases in them because they become so swollen. I'm drinking as much water and fluid as I can and wearing compression socks daily to help. My doctor even wants me to use compression gloves but I haven't done it yet... we will see what she says at my 33 week appointment. Unfortunately there is not much you can do for swelling but keep cool and try to keep your feet elevated when possible.
I keep hoping I go a little early because I don't want to feel like this for the next 7 weeks but whatever keeps my baby the healthiest and strongest is what is important to me.
The great things about this trimester....!
I love feeling my little guy move as much as possible. I sometimes freak myself out if I don't feel him move in big movements but I really think I just am oblivious to the smaller movements because I am used to them. It is so crazy to watch my belly move and wiggle because my little guy is so hyper and moving. He loves to do these rolling movements, I think it is somersaults but I am not sure. He loves it, even though it doesn't feel that great to me. He is going to be just like his daddy go go go.
The other really weird but fun thing that I am feeling now is the hiccups! I never knew that my baby would get the hiccups let alone that I would be able to feel them. The first time I felt them I was lying in bed trying to sleep, so naturally it's baby boy's party time. I started feeling a heart beat type feeling. I knew it wasn't my heart beat but I couldn't figure out what it was. The next day I felt it again and someone at work told me it was the hiccups. Duh! It makes total sense now. It is so funny to know he has the hiccups and wonder how he got them!
Finally the best thing about this trimester is being on the count down. I am so excited to meet my little guy. No I don't have his room ready or a name officially picked out for him but I already know and love him so much. I worry about him and wonder what kind of mom I will be. I want to be the best mom possible and I pray on a daily basis that the Lord will help me be the mother that this little boy needs.
As difficult as this trimester is turning out to be, I am staying positive and trying to get everything done. I am focusing on the fun of the baby showers, the baby movements, and the cute the little hiccups that my little man is having and knowing I only have 7 WEEKS LEFT :)

Cabo Babymoon
So Taylor and I decided for our Christmas present this year we would do a Babymoon. Really I wanted to do a babymoon and he was humoring me. I have loved traveling and going to visit new places, I was lucky enough to have those experiences growing up. Travel stresses Taylor out, he's type of travel is going to the Dunes or camping somewhere. He finally gave in because after baby boy it will be much move difficult to do any kind of travel.
So we went to Cabo. We stayed at Melia Cabo Real Golf Resort. We had some friends stay there and said they enjoyed it so we decided to go there. It was a fabulous Resort. It is all inclusive resort, which I had never done before and LOVED. Because it is all inclusive, tips and things are included so you would think the staff wouldn't be as great as they were. The staff was Amazing! They were so nice and kind, they were helpful and very willing to do whatever you liked. They would constantly fill your drinks and take your plates and waite on you hand and foot. The only complaint I have about the resort is the beds! The beds were like CONCRETE, and I am not exaggerating at all. You would sit down and the bed didn't move. Luckily we had lots of pillows so we survived the bad beds and loved the wonderful resort.
| La Terreza Restaurant It was so delicious! |
So we arrived on January 13, 2013 very late. We didn't get to the hotel until after 10pm (Mexico Time). It was warm and very pleasant. We just had to be in a light jacket because of the ocean breeze. We got all checked in and dropped off our bags and went looking for food. The served nachos and quesadillas late at night, we had to wait until 11pm for the food to open. We walked around the resort for a bit and then went to the Lobby Bar and ordered our quesadillas. These are no regular quesadillas. They brought out these plates filled with 6-8 slices of the most delicious mozzarella quesadillas have ever tasted with sides of guacamole and pico that were delicious. I devoured them. haha
The next morning (Monday) we went to plan all of our excursions. There were 3 concierge at our hotel, plus the people on the beach so we shopped around. Since we booked our trip through Expedia, we ended up using him to book our excursions. With them we felt safe with the product and they were not pushing us to do the Resort Class. We booked 2 excursions, Dune Buggies and surfing. We had googled the dune buggies before we had gone and decided to do that, then Taylor fulfilled a life long dream and did a surfing lesson. After we got some of our excursions settled we went to the beach and the pool. It had been chilly that morning, it was 68 degrees but had a wind off the ocean. By the time we were done booking the excursions it was wonderful out side, there was still a breeze but it felt so good to be in your swim suit walking the beach in the beautiful sunshine. We played by the beach and pool the rest of the day, I even got a little burnt. Being at the hotel the hole day was not good for our eating habits. We ate more food then I can even explain. Buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner with amazing things to choose from... it was to hard to limit yourself. We hate SOO much that first day but I was so very worth it. We then went to the hotels Mexican Lottery night, it is Bingo but in Spanish pretty much. I won the first game but another person had the same card so we flipped for the prize an I lost :(. The 2nd and 3rd game I was 1 tile away from winning. It was a lot of fun and people there were hilarious! The drinks are free too so we got lots of Cokes and virgin Miami Vices, there were amazing as well. We went to bed exhausted and happy.
On Tuesday we did Dune Buggies, they picked us up at the hotel and headed out about 45mins away. We didn't think it would be a big deal with me being pregnant but I was a little scary. It wasn't all riding on the beach like we thought so it was more bumpy then we expected. Luckily we got me a better seat half way through and it was a lot more relaxing. When we first got to the place they took us in to get pictures with a parrot, it was cool but our pictures look a little awkward. We then learned about some of the vegetation and local wildlife. We got to see and take pictures with an iguana and a crocodile. It was pretty cool. Then we saddled up in the buggies and took off. They don't believe in break in or learning curves. We hit the gas and didn't let off. Luckily Taylor was driving and was able to keep up :). We rode out to a beautiful canyon that used to have a river in it. It was cool to learn about the history of the canyon and the culture of Cabo. The buggies were really trashed but they did go pretty fast. The best part was when we went out onto the beach. We came over the crest and immediately saw a few whales spraying water out off the coast. We drove and played a lot around the area and it was so much fun. We stopped and were able to go inside a cave right off the beach. We went in and it was mesmerizing. It is hard to see in the pictures because it was dark but it was cool being in a cave, knowing that in a few hours the tide would change and once again it would be underwater. We watched the whales and played on the beach for a bit before heading back. We were so dirty by the time we got back we took LONG showers and headed to dinner.
Wednesday we had decided to go down to the main marina and try to book a snorkel tour. That was the main thing I wanted to do on this trip, whale watching and snorkeling. We took the bus from our hotel (Mexican drives are INSANE! so it was nice being safe on a bus). We walked to the marina and it is beautiful! Many cruise ships stop at the Cabo San Lucas port and the boats and harbor there are beautiful. We walked in and started walking down, we found a guy to buy a snorkel tour from and Taylor worked his magic :). The guy laughed after we bought the tour and asked Taylor what he did back home, Taylor answered sales and the guy smiled and said he had figured. He told Taylor he was very good at what he does :). We went on the tour and were able to see Lover's beach (beach on this side of the famous Cabo Arch, divorce beach is on the pacific ocean side or the opposite side of the Arch), The famous Arch which separates the pacific ocean from the sea of cortez, whale watching, and snorkeling by the reef. We had a baby whale jumping and playing right by our boat as we were headed out. Our driver stopped and let us all watch for quite a while, it was so cool. Then the mom showed up and swam right next to the baby. It was AWESOME, I loved it, pictures just can't do it justice. The snorkeling was fun, the water was cold but you got used to it. The fish were out and were not afraid of you, they'd get so close! I got motion sick on the way out so snorkeling was a little hard but we still had fun. I didn't think I would get sick but apparently pregnancy does weird things to you :). The served a fabulous taco lunch and then it turned into a booze cruise on the way back, which was entertaining.
| The sea lion that stayed in the harbor, the locals used him to make money by feeding him for a dollar :) |
Thursday was Taylor's favorite day! It was surf lesson day, the warmest day we had so far and he was so excited. They picked us up early and we headed to Cerittos Beach, a famous surf beach. Luckily for us the waves were not huge so it was easier for Taylor to learn. It was a 7hr lesson and since I was not participating I was worried about being bored. The 7hrs flew by for both of us! I had so much fun in the water and taking pictures, I pulled my book out 1 time for less then 10min. It was awesome. It was pretty much a 1 on 1 lesson, they took them out and taught them the basics. The surfed for several hours then after lunch they went out on their own and used what they learned. I couldn't stop smiling because Taylor couldn't wipe the smile off his face, he had so much fun. He had to sit in the hot tub when we got back to relax his muscles but still didn't stop smiling.
Friday we went into town and it was the hottest day of the week. We shopped until we dropped and had a blast. We got what we wanted and Tay was successful at bartering with all the locals. Taylor got a few t-shirts, I got a swim cover and hat, and baby got a cute monkey onesie! They didn't go as low as we would expected because it is a cruise port so they know that they will sell a ton when those ships come in... which they do. Luckily a ship had not come in that day so it was easier and less crowded.
Saturday was beach and pool day. It was hot and beautiful, we played at the beach, had the best nachos and guac I have EVER tasted, and drank Miami Vice on our lounge chairs. The hotel was only about 35% full so it was so nice. We went to bed early that night exhausted from our fun we and because we had to get up at 430am to get to the airport.
We had a wonderful trip and had a ton of fun. I was so sad to come home to the cold and inversion but I was so nice sleeping in my comfy bed! Taylor didn't mind traveling and even said he do it again :). Our babymoon was successful and rejuvenating now it is time to buckle down and prepare for baby boy!

Kicking Baby boy
I felt baby boy kick about 17 1/2 weeks. I pretty sure I felt him before that but I was never quite certain. But at 17 1/2 weeks, I was positive that it was baby kicking. It is such a weird but exciting feeling. Now I will sometimes just sit in certain positions that makes baby move and kick more just to feel him. I bet in a couple weeks I will be wishing for him to relax a little and stop beating me up but for now I am loving every second!
It is so crazy to me knowing that there is a living thing inside me. I am growing a human being! It is kind of freakish if you really think about it but I am so grateful to be pregnant. It was not easy getting pregnant and even though it's hard to be sick and get fat, every time I feel my little man move and kick I smile.
It was a pretty exciting day for me to know that I was feeling baby kick but the day Taylor felt our little one kick was way exciting for me :) He felt baby boy kick on December 29, 2012!
We were lying on the couch and I told him little boy was kicking me a lot. He asked it he could feel it and I didn't think he could yet because I was only 21 weeks but we tried it anyway. He put his hand on my belly just as our little man gave a good kick (or hit I guess I don't know if it's his hands or feet). Taylor pulled his hand back and was like, "Oh! Was that it?" It was fun because I hadn't said a word so I knew he was feeling it on his own. His face was priceless to. It was a mixture of shock, freaked out, and happy all at once. ha ha! He thought it was a little weird but ever since he will try to wake baby up by poking me and then put his hand down to see if he can feel our little one move.
It is so much fun experiencing all these new things and being able to share them with Taylor. I can't wait to be a mom but I am even more excited to see Taylor as a dad. He is going to be amazing!
I had my 22 week appointment today and the doctor said baby is doing great! My weight, glucose, and blood pressure are all great as well! That is always great to hear, that I am doing well and so is baby. I told my doctor I felt A LOT of pressure in the lower pelvis and she said it is most likely because he is breech. Not to worry though, she said that he will most likely flip around! At least he better :) So here is to having a great time for the next 18 weeks and getting everything ready for my little man! I am so excited and stressed but I know it is going to fly by!

We are having a....
BOY!
I have felt all along that we were going to have a little boy. I don't know why but I just always thought I was carrying a little boy. It kinda scares me to know that I am going to have a little boy running around the house in just a little while. Growing up with all girls has not prepared me for being a mom of a little boy. I am so nervous, but I am super excited as well. I can already tell he is going to wrap me around his little finger.
I hope to be a great mom to a little boy. Play catch and teach him about sports, help him go after his dreams, no matter how big or small they may be. I know there is a lot more to being a mom then this but I want to be very involved in my kids lives in anyway that I can. I just hope during my learning curve of raising a boy, I don't miss out on the important stuff while I am obsessing over the little things!
On Friday November 30th, 2012 I had my 17 week appointment. My doctor had a hard time finding the heart beat because my little munchkin would not sit still. She would hear it for a split second and then it was gone! My biggest fear is coming to life.... this kid is NEVER going to slow down, just like his dad :) I had asked her if we could try to find out the gender and she consented! Taylor came to the appointment with me for this very reason. So she pulled the ultrasound machine in and tried to see. My little one didn't want to go in the right direction but eventually (through some forced persuasion) he moved so we could see, our "IT" became a BOY! My OB said she couldn't promise anything but it is pretty hard to mistake a boy :) The smile on Taylor's face was contagious! He was so excited. He always wanted a boy and was very glad at the news. We left the appointment and immediately text the whole family. Part of me wishes we had told everyone in a better way but I was to excited. Of course the family was very excited and was so sweet in the messages and thoughts back.
We told everyone it was a boy and we instantly started talking names... because we don't have a clue what we want or like! I had several girl names I loved (yes even though I had a suspicion I was having a boy, I could only find girl names I wanted) but no boy names. We have gone over many lists but really haven't found the "one" name we really want.
We had our 20 week, wellness or routine anatomy ultrasound on December 14, 2012. This is where they check and make sure baby is healthy and growing/developing properly. Taylor and I were ecstatic about this ultrasound. It is really hard not knowing if baby is getting everything it needs (especially because I was pretty sick) and that he was developing properly. Working in the OR at Primary Children's Medical Center doesn't help this fear either. We went to the appointment and didn't have to wait very long. We went in and had a super nice ultrasound tech.
The room is pretty cool because you lay down and have a TV monitory right in front of you, so I could see the entire ultrasound. I don't think I stopped smiling once I saw baby boy. It was so much fun seeing him turn and flip, wiggle and stretch. He loved covering his face with his arms, which is funny because Taylor loves to sleep in the exact same position :)
The tech took lots and lots of pictures of the baby's heart, brain, bones, anatomy, and so forth. It is a very thorough ultrasound, seeing all the major organs from all the different angles. The goal is to see if there is anything that isn't developing properly and if baby will need extra attention and medical care before or after birth. Of course baby boy did not want to cooperate, he is his father's son already ;) He wanted to move and play the entire time. When trying to take pictures of his bones baby would not sit still. He stretched and flipped so much! Luckily the machine allows you to freeze and rewind portions, without that we would be without most of the pictures. Then to be more difficult when it was time to get pictures of the brain, baby buried his head down low and did not want to move. This made pictures of his brain very difficult to get. The tech said, "wow he is really making me work for this"! After a lot of pushing and prodding, baby finally moved so she could get the pictures of his brain. The doctor then came in and we reviewed the whole ultrasound. He said that everything looked great and normal. I asked lots of questions, having worked with sick kids for 4yrs I have a few more fears and questions.
We were able to leave feeling so grateful and happy about baby boy's health and huge smiles on our faces at being able to watch him for over 30minutes! We also got a couple pictures and a DVD of the entire ultrasound. I won't lie, I watched the DVD again later that day :)
Taylor and I feel so grateful and blessed for our little miracle. We are excited to have a little boy and become a family of three! It is truly a dream come true! Even if he is already giving me a run for my money :)

First Trimester!
I cannot believe my first trimester is officially over! It went by so fast, it seemed to just fly by. So how was my first trimester?
I have really been trying not to be a big complainer, but sometimes it isn't easy. Sickness hit about 7 weeks and it came with a bang! I stopped being able to hold much down in the morning and at night pretty much every day. I would get up at 530am and tried every different trick of keeping sickness down but eventually I would get sick, no matter what. I tried so hard to be quiet to not wake Taylor up but it didn't always work. Good thing I have a good husband :) I have had a lot of food aversions too, which doesn't help. Just the thought of having to smell chicken still makes me a little sick. Luckily when I went to my new OB (yes new because I found out my other OB no longer delivers in an "in network" hospital so at 8 weeks along I had to switch doctors) and she prescribed me the miracle drug of Zofran! Seriously, whoever invented that stuff is a wonderful person! It is a life saver!
I had to finally start telling people at work, because I was sick, at about 11 weeks. Some of the people I work with every single day had some previous suspicions, apparently I acted and said I was extremely tired all the time :) I think that was the other piece of the first trimester that is so hard. I was so exhausted, working full time and having to take call doesn't help but daily naps after work were wonderful! Taylor would come home from work and his first questions were: How are you and How was your nap? People try to explain it to you, how tired you are going to be but there really is nothing that can prepare you for the real thing. Luckily that exhaustion really seems to be subsiding and I am feeling more energetic as the days go on.
We told our families about 11 weeks along. We told the Maxfield family with a Utah Utes onesie and a little note that said, "welcoming another UTE to the family, May 2013". This was fun because they are all Y fans. They were shocked and surprised but ecstatic! It was really fun to see the news sink in. When we told my family, I had my nephew open his "birthday present" of the same onesie but this note said "Cousin Maxfield May 2013" it took a little bit for the family to catch on but then everyone was super excited. My nephew thought it was a lame birthday present, what 7yr old boy wouldn't, but I made him happy by giving him a real one right after. It was so fun telling our families and then our friends. I made this pregnancy actually seem real, I am still struggling believing it is real but things like this help a lot :)
Yesterday I went for another check up (13 weeks) and got to hear baby's heartbeat, I love that sound! I have lost weight and the doctor told me to be careful but I think with the nausea starting to subside a little bit it will be okay. Unfortunately I now have a cold/cough but its all part of the experience. I am just trying to enjoy every day and remember how much of a miracle this little one is for us! Getting pregnant was not easy, so every day I thank my Heavenly Father for sending me this wonderful little miracle. Even if it is making me sick :)
What's next?
Trying to stop losing weight and maybe gain a few lbs.
Make a decision on whether to find out the gender of little Baby Maxfield! (I am leaning towards not finding out but we will see, I have 7 weeks to decide)
Start preparing for baby Maxfield. This pregnancy will go faster then I think it will and I am some that loves to have stuff done way in advance and there is a lot to do :)
